Final Filming Day

Image
Final Filming Day      In the past few days, I finalized all of my filmings. I am now ready to start editing. On the last days of filming, I decided to make a couple choices to change scenes. A choice that I made for all of my radio scenes I would be to do voiceovers. Since there were background noises in the scenes that were not wanted I found that doing a voice-over would be best in this situation. During filming the final scenes I also used myself to play both characters until both characters were seen in the scene together. My sister then came for the final scene and was able to shoot all the scenes. I have been really busy with school and other extracurricular, I wanted to get my filming done so I could start editing and re-shoot any issues while still allowing me time to make any last-minute adjustments. When finishing the films it took a lot of preparations especially because this was a very huge props and costumes scenes. I had to make sure the costumes I ha...

Adjusting Scenes

Image
Adjusting Scenes     My filming process has been running into a few more issues than usual. I did not get a lot of filming done, however, I am ready to use a couple of hours of a day and finish the filming aspect so I can start editing. I've had to spend an abnormal amount of time reshooting scenes. This time I had done reshot of scenes because I have not like the way the scenes had been coming out. One of the adjustments I made was to take out the picture on the wanted poster. This was a small detail but I decided to reshoot it to get everything the way I visualized for my final project. During this time I also looked towards the later filming. Although I wanted my filming to be done during the sunset night to create that horror film feeling I realized I may have to film a little earlier and use lights so the scene can be properly seen. This is an adjustment the I am realizing from recording the previous scenes I have done. Through the past days of my recording scenes, ...

Filming Issues

Image
Filming Issues        Yesterday I was looking at my shots on my phone and I realized that I lost all of my filmings I had done of the skateboard. This was something I had not through of or anticipated in planning. I had originally planned on filming my next scene today but once I saw that I had lost the film I decided to re-film what I had lost. Before re-filming to ensure I wouldn't lose my film again I made copies of all of the shots. After I made copies I then moved them to a USB so I wouldn't lose them again. Once I did that I went back to my storyboard to see what shots I had to re-do. The storyboard was really good because it was a great reference especially when re-filming. I'm glad I did my storyboard to specific detail because it really helped with the ideas I had for shot angles which really pulled together each scene. The scene I had to reshoot was the skateboarding one of the mystery person skating. I used the solutions I had come up with before suc...

Filming More Scenes

Image
Filming More Scenes     In the past day,  I filmed more of my scenes but ran into more issues than usual. Although it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. The scene I needed to film next required me to be in the car but I didn't have the car at the moment because my mom had taken it to work. I hadn't known she was going to work so I was unprepared for that but I decided to do some other things instead. I still wanted to use the same car to film and not a different one so I decided to skip those scenes and do the next ones. I did an establishing shot of the road and sidewalk. Then if I was gonna continue filming I was gonna have to do moving shots. At that point, I decided to wait until my mom got home to help me film and to use the car. I kept the car parked in my driveway and recorded the scene of the phone in the car. Since I am filming with my phone I had to use someone else's. I then got my mom to drive down the street for me and record my last framed shot of the...

Filming Moving Scenes

Image
Filming Moving Scenes      I started off the day by filming my car scenes that follow the establishing shots. These shots were difficult to do because there were moving shots and since I am the one recording I was trying my best to keep the camera moving on one consistent line. The first shot I did was Zoom in on the radio which would be having a voiceover in the opening sequence. After filming the scenes that were required to be in the car I got out of the car and got it moved onto the side of my street. My street doesn't get a lot of traffic especially during the time I was filming so it was the safest location to film. When cars however did come down the block I would stop filming no matter where I was and step to the side of the road. My mom was driving and I was outside the car filming. We filmed the car slowly from a low angle and during editing will speed it up so it looks like the car is going a lot faster than I could safely film. Next, I did a framed shot of the...

Filming the Setting

Image
Filming The Setting     Yesterday I started my first day of filming. I filmed the first couple of scenes of my opening sequence. The first couple of scenes showed the setting the whole opening sequence takes place in which is Hollywood. While filming the first scene of the water tower I required some help. My mom drove the car and I recorded from the back seat. We made sure that everyone had their seatbelt on while driving. To stay safe it was also ensured that the driver would only pay attention to driving and that it was my job as the filmer to get the shot and worry about the camera movement and angle. I filmed the clip multiple times to make sure that when I went home I got at least one good shot. Every time we would drive past the water tower we would circle back around to get the shot while still staying safe and following the rules of the road. After filming the water tower I decided that would be all of my filmings for the day because it was about to be dark soon...

Preparing to Film

Image
Filming and Editing Today I had planned to start filming so if anything unexpected happened I would have time to fix it later in production. When I was going to film I saw the weather and thought it would be best if I just waited until a better day. Since I would have been starting early delaying one day is something I can afford to do to ensure I don't spend an hour setting up just for it all to get ruined with some rain. Instead of filming today I just did more preparations and planned more. I did this because I believe planning is a very essential aspect of filming a good and coherent film. I decided to gather all my props that I would need for the scenes. I also found the costumes I would like to use during filming. While doing this I was able to confirm what I did and didn't have and make minor changes to certain aspects. I also was able to troubleshoot problems that I thought I may run into during filming preparing the best I could for it. One of the main issues I solved ...

Planning Storyboard

Image
Planning Storyboard I used the story board to break down all my ideas and have a visualization to see how practical they are. Ideas sound great until they are put on paper and drawing the story allowed me to pay attention to the smaller details and think more into my movie. My movie is a horror film about a psychopathic killer who is on 'The Verge" of insannity and the opening sequence is the setting and the buildup ending in his fist kill in the town to start of the investigation and journey of the movie. An interesting thing I learned from doing the story board was paying attention to materials I would need to make my opening sequence the way I planned, because as I drew stuff I made notes if I would actually have the resources to do it. The story board was really good for me because I made sure to pay attention to angles and the visual aspect of all the scenes and not just the story line itself.

Planning Title Designs

Image
Planning Title Designs For my title design, I plan to have the title of the film integrated into the opening sequence as if it is meant to be there in the real life of the film. The title will be integrated into the film but slowly fade to a black screen showing nothing but the title. This is to emphasize the title of the film which is the first time the audience will be seeing it. This will grab the reader's attention without jeopardizing the building tone of the movie. My title will be in red with a black background. After researching the feeling and moods colors carry I chose the colors I picked for my title specifically. I also learned the effect the font can have on the title too. The tile will also be written in a very bold and sharp front to carry on the horror genre of my film. My title will also have certain relations to my other title cards. The way the production company, actors, and all that will have similar colors and styles relating them all to each other. The main ...

Planning Filming Details

Image
Planning Filming Details  Planning was a very important aspect of filming. I first started by ensuring I had the proper location to film. My first location will be the Hollywood Water Tower, which is used to establish the location. The car driving on roads will also be used as a location for a brief scene. The neighborhood street will be used as the second location of a movie, which is where characters travel. The last location is my house which will play the setting of an old abandoned house. To portray my thought I will be using myself and my sister for acting and filming and also utilizing my parents for help when I need people in the scene and one to record. Due to the current pandemic, I found it best to work by myself but I still need help to get the final product I would like. The location is taking place at my house and inside a car on the street so I know it is safe. In addition to that during filming, I will only be around immediate family, and since I am always around th...

Planning Scripts

Image
Planning Scripts _________________________________________________________________________________ During my planning, I created two scripts, a Dialogue and Shooting Script. My shooting script had my visual aspects of the scene. This included what was happening, the angle the camera was in, and if there was diegetic or non-diegetic sound going on. My dialogue script included what the character said, or words spoken in scenes. I broke both scripts up into each different scene of my opening sequence. I changed to a new scene when locations changed or when the action going on drastically changed. I tried to break down the script the best I good and mainly tried to focus on what angle I used for each shot. This is mainly due to the fact that my genre's conventions are portrayed through sound, angles, and transitions. My opening sequence is the first murder of many to follow, the opening sequence introduces the audience to the unnamed characters and is right away making the audience fe...
