Planning Title Designs
For my title design, I plan to have the title of the film integrated into the opening sequence as if it is meant to be there in the real life of the film. The title will be integrated into the film but slowly fade to a black screen showing nothing but the title. This is to emphasize the title of the film which is the first time the audience will be seeing it. This will grab the reader's attention without jeopardizing the building tone of the movie. My title will be in red with a black background. After researching the feeling and moods colors carry I chose the colors I picked for my title specifically. I also learned the effect the font can have on the title too. The tile will also be written in a very bold and sharp front to carry on the horror genre of my film. My title will also have certain relations to my other title cards. The way the production company, actors, and all that will have similar colors and styles relating them all to each other. The main planned connection between all my title cards however is that they are all integrated into the film. This means that they are written on objects to feel as if they are meant to be in the film and give credit without standing out too much. Before the opening sequence is halfway done I want the audience to feel the horror in the film. The film is called "The Verge". The title itself is supposed to spark suspense in the audience as they wonder what will happen next. This movie is based on a psychotic person on "The Verge" of breaking. However in the 2 minutes and opening sequence you can only understand so much of the origin of the title. All details of the title have a purpose, just as all the title cards have a purpose in style. I want the horror genre to be felt in all aspects of the movie, even the smallest. Planning helped me do that when it came to all of the smallest details with the title style and placement.
