Planning Scripts
Planning Scripts
During my planning, I created two scripts, a Dialogue and Shooting Script. My shooting script had my visual aspects of the scene. This included what was happening, the angle the camera was in, and if there was diegetic or non-diegetic sound going on. My dialogue script included what the character said, or words spoken in scenes. I broke both scripts up into each different scene of my opening sequence. I changed to a new scene when locations changed or when the action going on drastically changed. I tried to break down the script the best I good and mainly tried to focus on what angle I used for each shot. This is mainly due to the fact that my genre's conventions are portrayed through sound, angles, and transitions. My opening sequence is the first murder of many to follow, the opening sequence introduces the audience to the unnamed characters and is right away making the audience feel scared which is exactly what it should be doing. The script is just a further breakdown of everything so when filming actually comes around everything will already have been thought through. This will reduce the number of re-takes and wasted time during filming and editing. I divided the script into two different types to really break down each step. With a project, this big, planning and research would be the best thing for me. Although I used my storyboard to visually see what I wanted to do the scripts allowed me to go beyond what the picture showed and remember all my ideas in written form. My script also allowed me to develop my ideas further than just a drawn picture. Writing out all aspects made me think of all the needed details such as sound, camera angle, dialogue, and transitions. Writing the scripts also allowed me to focus on preparations I may have overlooked. The main issue I say sound effects. By this, I mean realizing what sounds I was gonna have to emphasize to make stand out in the film the way I want, such as a twig breaking. The scripts allowed me to write my ideas for the film down and really develop all the ideas I had in my brain into a written form.
