Peer Review and Touch Ups
Peer Review and Touch-Ups
Yesterday I did a peer review. This was something I had been really eager to do because I wanted to ensure that my visions as the director were portrayed correctly. I asked my sister, parents, a friend to all view the opening sequence. I wanted them to see if they understood it and if it seemed like a horror film without them knowing my vision. Before doing that, however, I had asked my teacher a question about logos in the film. While editing I realized I had close-ups on many logos. Not to promote them but this was just the way I wanted the shot to go. During class, I asked my teachers if I had to blur out or take out the logos. They said it was ok which was a huge relief. This was because so many of my shots included logo and I would have done many more hours of editing filming. After I finished up all of my editing I gave the 2-minute opening sequence for my peer and family to see. The feedback I got back was well. Overall everyone said that they cot the mood and vision I had and that the only thing I should work on was the voiceovers, and background noise. I re-layered the sounds and voiceovers I made and thought I was about done. I continued to re-watch my opening sequence and realized that I should re-film a small scene. Since I had extra time and was generally done with everything I wanted to re-film the death scene. In the death scene, the person dies and falls in the pool but I would like to re-shoot the part of the dead body just in the film because I thought it could be more dramatic and from a different angle. I plan to re-film in the next day and just continue to make micro changes to my film to make it the best I can. I've said it before but overall I am really happy with the way everything has come out so far. I am also very thankful for all of the planning I did because it really helped me troubleshoot issues and plan for some that may come up. After re-shooting I will edit that in and will be done with my opening sequence to the horror film I came up with.
