Final Touches

Final Touches Overall I am very happy with the final product of my film. I spent most of my time re-watching my film and looking to see if I could make any more changes. One aspect I paid close attention to was spelling. In life, I struggle when it comes to spelling. Since the editing software I use to add my titles does not have spell check I made it a point to check all of my spelling. I had spelt one word wrong but since the title cards are such an important aspect the least I could do was to ensure I spelt everything correctly. After checking for spelling I went back and changed the diegetic and non-diegetic layout. I took away some of my overlapping non-diegetic sounds because I thought the scene was too busy. Certain diegetic and non-diegetic sound is needed, however when it is too much it takes away from the actual film. After shortening and also extending some clips I also had to go back and re-edit the sounds to match with the newly changed film. The opening sequence is o...

Peer Review and Touch Ups

Image
Peer Review and Touch-Ups Yesterday I did a peer review. This was something I had been really eager to do because I wanted to ensure that my visions as the director were portrayed correctly. I asked my sister, parents, a friend to all view the opening sequence. I wanted them to see if they understood it and if it seemed like a horror film without them knowing my vision. Before doing that, however, I had asked my teacher a question about logos in the film. While editing I realized I had close-ups on many logos. Not to promote them but this was just the way I wanted the shot to go. During class, I asked my teachers if I had to blur out or take out the logos. They said it was ok which was a huge relief. This was because so many of my shots included logo and I would have done many more hours of editing filming. After I finished up all of my editing I gave the 2-minute opening sequence for my peer and family to see. The feedback I got back was well. Overall everyone said that they cot ...

Editing all the Film

Editing all the Film     In the last few days, I had been editing my film through Imovie. I am almost ready to show it to another person for a peer review. During editing, I added the non-diegetic sound in the background of the film. I had to record the audio that I used which was royalty and copyright-free, I then placed the audio over the muted film. I had already previously found the sound I wanted to use so this reduced the time it took to do this task. I took a couple of tries to make sure the music flowed well with the scenes and then I moved on to the next parts. I added in my diegetic sound too, to enhance the sound effects and noises of the film. I also created sound bridges when I used the non-diegetic sound to carry over into the new scenes. After finishing with the sound all I generally had left to do was the titles and finishing touches. I originally wanted to have the titles integrated into the scenes but I was unable to do so so I typed them out in the cor...

Editing and Filming Changes

Image
Editing and Filming Changes So overall to this point I had closely followed my storyboard when filming the scenes and shots. However, when I started to order my scenes and edit them I realized some scenes didn't flow well in the order of the story. I decided to go out and film so additional scenes and take out some angles and shots I had previously recorded. This additional filming took up the time I was going to spend editing but after changing from the storyboard it all looks well together. The storyboard had looked good until it came to life and I realized the scenes didn't flow well into each other. The scenes and shot I took out were not very important it was easily taken out and reshot in a different form. Some of my scenes I even kept in but just re-ordered. Although I did some additional filming I was glad I had some different angle shots to choose from when I had originally done all of my filmings.  After filming the scenes I still had time to edit so I came back and c...
