Editing all the Film

 Editing all the Film

In the last few days, I had been editing my film through Imovie. I am almost ready to show it to another person for a peer review. During editing, I added the non-diegetic sound in the background of the film. I had to record the audio that I used which was royalty and copyright-free, I then placed the audio over the muted film. I had already previously found the sound I wanted to use so this reduced the time it took to do this task. I took a couple of tries to make sure the music flowed well with the scenes and then I moved on to the next parts. I added in my diegetic sound too, to enhance the sound effects and noises of the film. I also created sound bridges when I used the non-diegetic sound to carry over into the new scenes. After finishing with the sound all I generally had left to do was the titles and finishing touches. I originally wanted to have the titles integrated into the scenes but I was unable to do so so I typed them out in the corner of the film. I set up the proper order and had my titles such as film name, director, and studio all in the film on their own slides. It took a while for me to figure out what color to use. Since my film had different backgrounds I struggled to find a color that would look good on that part. After searching through fonts I also found one that matched appropriately to my genre and the mood and tone got from my opening sequence by the audience. After filling out the title cards in my opening sequence I was generally done with my first round of editing. I then rewatched the opening sequence a couple of times and adjusted things I did not like. I changed when the music cut in and out of scenes and changed the volume of the non-diegetic noise. After rewatching the film a couple of times I realized that I really didn't like the color saturation and appearance. I went back and began to change the visual color appearance of the scenes. Although I had previously done that after adding the sound I realized that the scenes truly did not match. I stopped editing and still had not found the proper color appearance but I was on my way to it and was almost done with it. I am proud of the way my editing is going because I am a little head of schedule but I have left the room to make sure my film is exactly the way I desired. I still have to continue to refine my edit and receive a peer review to ensure my vision is executed through the opening sequence.
