All About Me




    Hi, my name is Vanessa Gilbert and I am a sophomore this year at Fort Lauderdale Highschool. I live at home with my mom and dad, and I have a sister who lives in college. I love all animals, and in addition to my family members, I have a dog names biscuit and two cats named rainbow and teddy who live at the house and are basically family. My favorite class in school is usually science but this year I am excited for a couple of my classes too. I especially am excited for AICE Media because I have always been really interested in movie making and how the idea of a movie comes together. Besides going to school most of my time is taken up by softball which is something I have played and loved since I was 4 years old. I play travel softball for a team in plantation and I played for the high school team last year too as a catcher. Softball takes up almost all of my time after school with practices and going to tournaments on the weekends but I still have a great time. Although I don't get a lot of free time I have such a good time hanging out with my best friend Sam who plays on the sam team as me. When we go away on weekends we always make the most of them hanging out even if it's just in the hotel room doing homework and we have such a good time. However, when I am home I enjoy doing arts and crafts related things. I'm not as good with drawing as I am other things but I am really good with making crafts and paintings. My favorite is when birthdays come around, I love making crafts and gifts for my friends. In addition to that, I also love watching customization videos online to help get ideas for new things to try. Although my free time is minimal I love to go to the beach, the pool, and fishing with my friends. At the beach, I especially love going in the morning to watch the sunrise because it is always so nice to watch. Other than watching the sunrise I enjoy watching Netflix. I mainley watch Netflix and movies on Disney plus a lot. My favorite genres are supernatural and superhero action movies. I have watched all of the Avenger movies and all the movies for Thor, Spiderman, Iron man, and Hulk. On Netflix, I have watched a lot of supernatural shows and ironically the one I just finished was called "Supernatural". Another passion of mine is cars, I love the idea of how they made and the technologies that go into some cars, like for example teslas. After high school and college, I would love to become an engineer of some sort but I don't know what yet. This is a little inside of who I am and I hope you had a good time reading.

Comparing 9, The Short, and 9, The Full Length Movie

Comparing 9, The Short ,and 9, The Full Length Movie Short Film  Today I watched the short film 9. This is a seven-minute-long animated short film. I really enjoyed watching this short film. The characters were really unique. I honestly liked the rag doll's appearance of some and the robotic appearance of others. The setting was also very unique and cool. It had a post-apocalyptic feel and somewhat reminded me of Wall-e. The sound is what really made an impact on me most though. There was no dialogue in the short film. The only sound really heard is diegetic and score. The lack of sound helped set the mood of the short film a lot. It made moments feel more scary and suspenseful. The sound of the robotic spider characters made me feel as if I was inside the film. The plot was interesting too. The main character is a rag doll-like with a 9 on its back. 9 seems to have had a mentor or a friend in the past. 9's friend has the same appearance but with a 5 instead of on its back. The...
