Editing Audio
Editing Audio
Today we edited the audio for our short film. Previously we had already ordered and edited the film clips so now it was time to get into closer detail, specifically audio. We started off by going through each shot and deciding if the audio had to be present or not. Some of the shots were a little to quite so while going through them if their was dialogue that needed to be heard we would turn up the volume for that specific shot. While doing this some were a little difficult to figure out because on the scenes that had dialogue we know we needed the audio but other scenes we couldn’t figure out if the audio would be needed or not. This was difficult to figure out because we didn’t know if the background noise of the scene would seem natural or odd. We decided to figure that out later after we added the background sounds and other sounds. When we went to add the sound for the alarm we had an issue. This issue was that we couldn’t add the music. The only way to add the music would mean we would have to buy it, but we didn’t want to. So to avoid buying it we had to come up with a solution. Our solution was to use the voice over option on iMovie. To do this we searched up the song we wanted went into a quiet place and played the song while the voice over was recording. From there we moved the song to align to where it was supposed to and continue. After that we figured out what could fill the silence in the scenes that had useless audio but seemed odd muted. Since the main character wakes up to a song we thought it would be perfect if the song continued quietly and faded out until she was don’t getting ready. This was there was something to smoothly connect each scene. We also knew what time we wanted the song to end however we did not want it to abruptly stop. As a solution we faded the audio out. This would provide a seem less transition for the audio to silence. Next we also had to remove the audio from one clip of a scene and duplicate it. This was because where the audio was naturally did not match the scene itself. So by reattaching it we were able to move it slightly to a more proper location. So overall this was another successful day of editing.
