Making and Setting Up Props

Making and Setting Up Props

So previously we had our first day of filming. The first day was really fun. Although I had already said that we had prepared for filming and gotten props ready since we were running behind on our filming schedule we still needed to touch up some things on props. On the second filming day we were planed on filming the car crash scene. This means we would use the props we had planned on using, like the smoke machine, fake blood, and fake broken glass. We had already prepared and had the fake blood and smoke machine ready to go. We had prepared the bulk of it many days before. A couple days before our second filming day I made the fake glass for the group with the materials I had already gotten before hand. The process of making the fake glass was fun but difficult at times. I made the glass by melting down sugar and letting it cool on a sheet. When it dried it was a kinda cleared and glass like sheet. When I tried it the first time it did not come out right. When the sugar dried it was very foggy and not clear at all. Although the glass doesn’t have to be perfectly clear because it supposed to be “messy” since it was a car crash, I knew it could be better. When remaking he “glass” instead of just melting more sugar I broke the one I had already tried to make and melt it again. This time the sugar dried decently clear and I though it would be great for filming. When we go to film we would break the “glass” on the street before filming the car crash so it appears that broke glass is around the scene. The fake glass was the only thing made and prepared, the rest was just “set up”. The fake glass was however also made before the second day of filming. Overall making the fake glass and setting up the props was more fun then I expected.
