First Day of Filming

 First Day of Filming

Today was our first day of filming. I was very excited to film. Today we were focused on filming the “first day” April lives through. We ended up deciding to instead of film “day 1” we film the first 3 times she wakes up. We decided it was best to film the scene in that location at the same time to ensure the setting in each scene was decently the same. Although this was a small detail we thought the lighting should look similar even if the window/outside view was not directly seen. So we spent time and skipped over some story board slides to film each starting scene. While doing that we ran into an issue with the lighting. The way the bedroom was set up the window was directly behind the actor so it was hard to see the actor when recording. As a solution, we waited until it wasn’t to bright outside before filming and decided to keep the window out of the actual shot. This means that if we had to reshoot anything the time of day didn’t matter. The idea of keeping the window out of the shot was a precautionary measure, we were looking ahead of  what we were doing in this time. To help with the lighting issue we took some additional lights to make the filming seem clear, and properly lit. Our film again is under the genre of mystery. Due to this, while filming we had to ensure scenes were properly lit but also not so lit that they didn’t match the tone of the movie. However even though our film is a mystery it does not all have to be dark, it’s the actions that make it a mystery not the way April appears getting ready in the morning. When filming that was something I was specifically detail focused on. It was the idea of finding the perfect balance so that the film wasn’t creepy/scary but mysterious. This is when our genre research came into help. So overall our filming went well. Besides the lighting issues and changing what scenes were were filming everything else was good.
