Editing The Clips
Editing The Clips
Before starting the editing process I was a little concerned about if all the clips would come together with the way I had envisioned but I liked the final product. I first started by dumping all my film onto the tablet and I put it into the editing software. I started by ordering all the takes into the order I wanted them in. Then I started to watch them and see what takes I wanted to keep for the final product and deleted the ones I didn't want. I then started cutting the clips and getting them the size I wanted them. I then got the music I would be using for my commercial. I got inspirational music with words to be played so the viewer got the inspirational you can do it message that Gatorade stands for. I then transferred the song I liked to the commercial and played it over all the clips. Then I started editing the clips individually. I would see what filters and what parts of the clip I would wanna slow down. I was editing from the beginning of the commercial to the end in that order. After getting the clip the specific way I wanted it I would put a transition between clips. I used fades, dissolves, and one complete cup throughout the commercial. The cut was used at the end of the commercial when the shot changes to the Gatorade logo. I used dissolves and fades throughout the commercial to add a sense of seamlessness between shots so the view wasn't disturbed by sudden switches. Besides transitions, I also slowed down and speed up certain parts of a specific clip. This was to make the dramatic effect I wanted the viewer to get from watching the commercial. After I got the commercial the way I wanted I had to do a little tweaking to make sure it was 30 seconds because I was a little over. After that, I watched it through to make sure everything was good and I was done editing my commercial. Once filming and editing I realized the something I wanted to do I couldn't. It did not align to exactly how I imagined on the storyboard but it still expressed the same message I wanted it to.
